Prepositions elementary easy
The three most common time and place prepositions.
Prepositions — Time, place and direction prepositions.
1. Time — at: exact time (at 5 o'clock, at noon); on: days/dates (on Monday, on 15 August); in: months/years/periods (in June, in 2024, in the morning). 2. Place — at: point (at the door, at the station); on: surface (on the table); in: enclosed space (in the room, in Delhi). 3. "In the morning/afternoon/evening" but "at night". 4. "On time" (punctual) vs "in time" (before deadline). 5. No preposition before today/tomorrow/yesterday, this/next/last.
The rule of thumb: at = point, on = surface, in = enclosed space. For time: at = clock time, on = day, in = month/year/period.
