Advanced Grammar — Voice, narration, clauses and conditionals.
1. In active voice the subject performs the action: The cat chased the rat. 2. Pattern: Subject + Verb + Object. 3. Active sentences are direct, clear and usually shorter. 4. Use active voice for most writing; passive when the doer is unknown or unimportant.
Active voice focuses on the doer. "Ravi wrote the letter" is active; the subject Ravi does the action.

Q1. Which sentence is in the active voice?
Answer: The chef cooked the meal.
💡 Active: subject does the action.
Q2. Change to active voice: 'English is spoken in many countries.'
Answer: People speak English in many countries.
💡 Add a sensible agent ('people') as subject; present simple passive → active.
Q3. Rewrite in active voice: 'This book was written by my uncle.'
Answer: My uncle wrote this book.
💡 The agent 'my uncle' becomes the subject; 'was written' → 'wrote' (past simple).
