To + base verb — the infinitive.

Rules

1. Full infinitive: to + base — to go, to see. 2. Bare infinitive (no to): after modals (can go), after make/let (made him cry), after do in negatives. 3. Uses: purpose (I came to help), after certain verbs (want to go, decide to leave), after adjectives (happy to see). 4. Split infinitive: "to boldly go" — acceptable in modern English but avoid in formal writing. 5. Some verbs take gerund, not infinitive: enjoy doing, avoid doing, mind doing.
