Interjections express sudden emotion.

Rules

1. Common: Oh!, Wow!, Ouch!, Alas!, Hurray!, Bravo!, Oh no! 2. Interjections are usually followed by an exclamation mark. 3. They stand alone and do not form part of the sentence grammar.

Explanation

Interjections add emotion to speech and writing. In formal writing use them sparingly.
