Tenses — Expressing time: present, past and future.

Rules

1. Form: am/is/are + verb-ing — She is reading. 2. Negative: am/is/are + not + verb-ing. 3. Question: Am/Is/Are + subject + verb-ing? 4. Uses: action in progress (I am cooking), temporary situations (He is staying with us), near future plans (We are leaving tomorrow). 5. State verbs do not normally take continuous: I like (not "am liking") this song.

Explanation

Present continuous shows an unfinished action at the moment of speaking. Pair it with now, at the moment, currently, today.
