Advanced Grammar intermediate medium

Short questions added to the end of a statement.

Advanced Grammar — Voice, narration, clauses and conditionals.

Rules

1. Positive statement → negative tag: She is nice, isn't she? 2. Negative statement → positive tag: He doesn't work, does he? 3. Use the auxiliary; no auxiliary → do/does/did: They went, didn't they? 4. "I am" → aren't I? (not "amn't I"). 5. Imperatives take "will you?" / "won't you?": Open the door, will you? 6. "Let's" takes "shall we?": Let's go, shall we? 7. Indefinite pronouns: Everybody knows, don't they?

Explanation

A positive sentence takes a negative tag and vice versa. The tag repeats the auxiliary and the subject as a pronoun.

हिंदी में

Question tag वाक्य के अंत में छोटा प्रश्न होता है — सकारात्मक वाक्य के साथ नकारात्मक tag और नकारात्मक के साथ सकारात्मक tag।
